The Spanish Empress
The empress is Candela, whose contributions to my blog and gallery (she’s a model, photographer, critic and cheerleader) are considerable. Here she reclines, bathed in golden light, on an elegant Victorian sofa.
The painting style is serious, somber and highly traditional; but the eccentric composition and cropping would have horrified the Old Masters.
Why do I call her an empress? Because I want to.
